My off grid dream

Ever since I was a teenager, it has been my dream to move abroad and live as self-sufficiently as possible. I made that dream a reality in 2009 and have been living in a small valley in central Portugal ever since. Here, we enjoy the peace and quiet, clear spring water, fruit and vegetables from our own garden, and eggs from our lovely hens. How do you imagine living off grid? Living only with cold water from the well, freezer and dishwasher? Living in a humid shed with drafts coming through gaps? Having bad access to your land? From 90 to 5000 Watts in seven years

We aren’t connected to the mains electricity supply, but we now generate enough energy to afford the luxury of a freezer, a washing machine and a dishwasher.

Our offer for 5 nights

• Price for one person in one of our two cosy Belltents: € 275.- • It is possible to put a second bed in the Belltent if you do not need a lot of space: €50 for the second person • Price for one person in the Crows Nest (double bed): € 325.- • Second person in the Crows Nest: € 175.- The place includes: - Outdoorkitchen - Bathroom with shower in the Crowsnest - Composting Toilet - Start of many hiking/ biking trails from our land - Electricity from our Solar System - Drinkingwater from our own spring - Use of natural spring water pool   Please note: • You will share the pool with frogs and baby salamanders, so it can be only used without crèmes or sunscreen on your skin. • Only NON- Smokers, please! • No Animals, please!
